On the way back to Pendleton, we stopped at a vista point just before descending into the valley.

The sky in all directions was dramatically different. We had passed through dense fog on the way up, but now took in the view in brilliant sunshine just a few hours later. On a clear day it is possible to see all the major mountains on the horizon -- Hood, Adams, Rainier, even Baker.
