Several times we got up quite high, as much as 1600 meters elevation. The weather was composed of many individual storms, so the clouds would often part and we'd be treated to a long vista.


There were wildflowers everywhere, though the season is late and they are aging, and I took a billion photos of them. I may put some up later.

The Whitmans left the Oregon Trail near here on their way to the Walla Walla valley. The road we were on crosses what is believed to be their route. A short walk brings you to a point overlooking some rugged terrain where they descended to follow Meacham Creek.
