I walked down to the farthest end of the museum, to see replicas showing how Highlanders might have lived c. 1700. This area was staffed by people in period costume, who explained various aspects of daily life. Life was certainly hard in those days, where the average life expectancy for a woman would be perhaps 30 years, whereas men might last into their 40s.

While I was there an elderly Welsh woman arrived and began talking up the superior quality and extensiveness of such exhibits in her native land. The museum staff were very gracious.
