Highland Folk Museum

It is possible to get from Crubenbeg to Dalwhinnie, about 6 miles distant, via this old road which treats the traveler to some magnificent vistas. I only recently discovered that this is none other than the Perth-Inverness road built by General Wade in about 1730, after pacifying the Highlands following the 1715 rising. This is looking back towards Crubenbeg, with Dalwhinnie behind. The peak on the left side of the horizon is Cruban Beag, behind our cottage, rising nearly 600 meters.

I had to go on my own to the distillery tour, as Ewan was a few months shy of the limit, so while I did that, Sally and the kids went to the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. I joined them when I had finished. I wound up taking the tour with two Dutch fellows who were biking around the Highlands.

On my way back up the A9 to Newtonmore I snapped a photo of the hill behind our cottage, with the cairn just visible.
