The trail is rough, but beautifully maintained where it needs to be to prevent erosion or hiker death.



As I made my way upwards I gradually caught up with two climbers from Inverness, Isabel and Derek, and we joined forces for most of the rest of the trek.

We reached the first plateau, where there are some pretty lochans--and then I saw them...The Cliffs of Insanity.



As we continued up towards the ridge we could see the middle of the three sisters quite well, Gearr Aonach. Derek had been here before and knew the proper way to get through the scree and boulders to the top of this ridge. There wasn't really a trail to follow at this point.
