Bidean nam Bian

We stayed at the Clachaig Inn, room 20. This is the view that greeted us outside our door next morning--part of the Aonach Dubh, one of the 'Three Sisters' of Glencoe, as well as the Stob Coire nan Lochan.

This is the view to the south, the An t-Sron.

Looking down the glen towards Rannoch Moor as the sunrise gathers. High on the face of Aonach Dubh in the center of the frame is 'Ossians Cave'.

The Clachaig Inn possesses a varied and rather good menu, as well as many local brews to sample. Breakfast is included in the tariff and is served in the white building, which is the oldest, and consists of a variety up to and including 'The Whole Hog'--baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms, bacon, sausage, black pudding and, of course, haggis.

The Sgorr nam Fiannaidh rises just north of the inn, slashed vertically by the narrow Clachaig Gully which reaches almost to the summit.

As we prepared for our first hike, towards the Bidan nam Bian, we looked back down the glen towards Glencoe and Ballachulish, with Loch Achtriochtan just visible.
