Sally takes advantage of some of that warm sand. We were down near a large block of stone that the kids and I like to clamber about on, and decided to stop there for a while.

From up on top, I could see the entire beach all the way to Tillamook head, including Haystack Rock, laid out before me.

Different types of sandstone and aggregate laid down on top of basalt (probably Columbia River basalt) are here exposed quite dramatically.

Makes a perfect platform for Ewan's mountaineering conquests.

Much of Oregon's coastline in this area is just like this, dramatic cliff faces that have retreated, leaving narrow strips of sand and large blocks of stone standing in the water providing nesting areas for birds, and safe places for other wildlife.

At low tide most of this is exposed, leaving many tidepools and a cave that stretches all the way through the base of this rock.

The munsters got busy doing what they love best at the beach.
