Indian Rock

After leaving Spring Mountain and the dragonflies behind, Phil and I made our way up the road to the ridge overlooking the Grande Ronde Valley.

The Wallowa Mountain range lies across the valley, including Sacajawea Peak, Eagle Cap and Oregon's very own Matterhorn, the west face of which can be seen here. At nearly 10,000 feet of elevation, those massive chunks of granite are quite impressive.

Ahead was Indian Rock itself, seen against the summit of Mount Emily.

Phil takes in the view from Indian Rock, south down the valley towards La Grande.
