As we prepared, we could see the coire (Coire nan Lochan) we'd be heading into, with Stob Coire nan Lochan at the top. I didn't really expect Sally and the kids would go that far, so the plan was for them to return at some point and for me to go on. Things didn't work out quite like that, mostly due to my miscalculations.

The kids getting ready to go.

As we made our way across the glen, the sun broke through the clouds and made beautiful sunbeams through the misty air.

The River Coe.

Here I am, just before Sally and the kids headed back down. The plan was for me to go on a couple of hours. If they needed to return to the hotel, Sally was prepared to drive that far, a half a mile or so. I really wanted to do the full loop and come down the next coire over, so I took off quickly.
